Community Resources

Rockin Block Amphitheatre Concert

The Department of Community Resources is responsible for providing recreation and leisure activities to the Lakewood community. Our goal is to provide exceptional facilities and programs that make this city an outstanding place to live. Community Resources has seven divisions that provide the following:

  • 113 parks with 240 miles of shared use trails.
  • Four recreation centers and a community center.
  • Two golf courses.
  • Indoor and outdoor performing arts venues.
  • A museum and visual art galleries.
  • Early childhood services, including Head Start.

Imagine Lakewood!, the department’s 2017 master plan, provides five-year goals to help guide the development of the city's parks, recreation and arts. Priorities were identified based on community feedback. Track the latest progress by viewing our 2022 Annual Report.

Volunteer

Volunteering for Lakewood is a great way to get involved, make an impact and meet fellow residents.

Volunteer when and where you can in the area(s) that you're most passionate about. Positions are broad in needs; some have weekday, evening and/or weekend availability. Volunteer positions within city parks are filled in the spring — applications are available during that time.
