11050 W. 20th Street

In 2018, the City entered into a 10-year lease agreement with Denver Water to improve and open to the public .8 acres of the site along Quail St. for park uses. The City built a new playground for the neighborhood following a public engagement process. In 2023, the City acquired the entire 9.06 acres of land, formally Denver Water property.

2911 S. Wadsworth Acquisition

The Community Resources Department has purchased 1.5 acres of property located at 2911 S. Wadsworth Blvd to expand the Bear Creek Greenbelt. The property is the remainder of one of the original Bear Creek Greenbelt acquisitions in 1975.

Armstrong Property Acquisition

Lakewood City Council has approved a resolution declaring the intent to purchase 6.92 acres of land adjacent to the Bear Creek Greenbelt for open space and park purposes.

Bear Creek Lake Park Master Plan

Managed by the City of Lakewood, the park is beginning a master plan process that will include an assessment of park visitor needs, an evaluation of park and building infrastructure, and design work for future park improvements.

Bear Creek Reservoir expansion proposal

Get more information about a proposal by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Colorado Water Conservation Board to expand water storage at Bear Creek Reservoir in Bear Creek Lake Park, with potential impacts to the park.

Belmar Trailhead Development

The City of Lakewood is constructing a new trailhead to serve as a gateway to Belmar Park, located at 605 S. Yarrow St., on the east side of the park, south of the Belmar Library.

Carmody Park Pickleball Courts

Six outdoor pickleball courts have been proposed at Carmody Park.

Carmody Pool Outdoor Shade Structures

The City of Lakewood is pleased to provide two large shade structures for our visitors to the outdoor pool at the Carmody Recreation Center. The smaller shelter will provide protection to spectators along the southern edge of the pool. The large shelter will support all pool guests and include picnic tables with views to the pool and splash pad.

Charles Whitlock Outdoor Pickleball Courts Closure

The City of Lakewood is closing the CWRC outdoor pickleball courts. The CWRC pickleball courts do not meet the distance requirements of at least 350 feet from neighboring houses. This creates noise pollution that is detrimental to the neighbors enjoyment of their home(s). The last day for play is April 30, 2024.

Concrete Renovation at Big Soda Lake

The beach at Bear Creek Lake Park will be getting a renovation of its concrete in April. Construction will start on 4/15.
