Status of City of Lakewood Passport Services

The City of Lakewood's Passport Acceptance services are not available at this time. You may come across sources that list the City as offering services; however, that information is out-of-date.

The City Charter establishes the legal right of the City to function as a home rule municipality.

The Lakewood Municipal Code is a compilation of the laws that govern the City.


The City Clerk is the elections official for all regular and special elections in the city of Lakewood. All municipal elections for elected officials are nonpartisan. Regular municipal elections for the city of Lakewood are held on the first Tuesday in November in odd numbered years. Special elections may be called by the City Council.

Chapter 2.52 of the Lakewood Municipal Code pertains to the initiative and referendum process in the city of Lakewood.  This chapter provides all necessary information for circulating and filing such petitions.

Any business selling alcoholic beverages in the city of Lakewood must obtain a state liquor/beer license, a city liquor/beer license and must comply with Colorado Revised Statutes and the Lakewood Municipal Code.
