Bicycle Plan

The Bicycle Plan envisions a safe, comfortable, and connected bicycle network that promotes health, sustainability, and mobility in Lakewood by supporting bicycling as an accessible mode of transportation for people of all ages and abilities. The Plan is used by city planners and transportation staff to guide the placement and design of bike facilities during ongoing processes including development, annual resurfacing and other capital projects, as well as to inform decisions related to funding bicycle projects.

The Bicycle Plan was recently updated through a 14-month process involving data collection, network analysis, and public engagement to bring the Plan up to date with current national guidance and community priorities. Thank you to everyone who was involved in that update!

An online map is currently being developed by City transportation staff to visually track the ongoing implementation of the Bicycle Plan on a project-by-project basis. The map is expected to be available by late summer or early fall of 2025 and will be linked here. For a full list and map of proposed projects, please refer to Appendix A of the Bicycle Plan, linked above.
