Lakewood already has many great options for recreational cycling and is working to improve the safety and comfort of bicycle infrastructure throughout the city to create more opportunities for bicycling as a form of transportation. Bicycle System Master Plan

Lakewood has long recognized the value of alternative modes of transportation and has funded many projects to improve the quality and safety of bicycling. The Bicycle System Master Plan, adopted by City Council in 2018, guides the development and maintenance of city bicycle facilities. It provides a framework to create a high-quality, safe, convenient, continuous and accessible bicycle transportation system for people of all ages and abilities while reducing carbon emissions and improving the health of community members.
