Outdoor Water Conservation Programs

Save water and money with Lakewood’s Outdoor Water Conservation Program! The city offers several incentives to help you reduce water use and transform your yard into a beautiful, vibrant, native Colorado landscape. Lakewood residents are eligible regardless of water utility provider.

Why are we offering this? Outdoor irrigation accounts for about half of all water use in the community. Improving water efficiency and practicing water conservation are key to ensuring that we all have enough water to sustain our community. The City of Lakewood has adopted the target of reducing citywide water use by 20% by 2025 to enhance resource efficiency. Learn more about Lakewood’s sustainability goals in the Lakewood Sustainability Plan.

Outdoor Water Efficiency Incentives

Our local partner Resource Central is managing our incentive program. In the past, we have offered discounted Garden In A Box kits, free sprinkler evaluations, and $500 discounts on lawn replacement. 2024 incentives will be available beginning in the spring. Quantities are limited, so we encourage community members to sign up early. Please sign up for Resource Central’s interest list to be the first to find out when these become available (additional details below).
