Pawnbroker License - New

It is unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to conduct the business of a pawnbroker within the City limits unless such person, firm, or corporation shall have first obtained a pawnbroker's license from the City of Lakewood. Municipal Code - Chapter 5.24 Pawnbrokers

Pawnbroker License - New Instate Applicant

Step 1.Contact the City Clerk's Office for the license application

Step 2.Gather required documentation

  • Certificate of Zoning (Obtain from the Planning Department or via POD@Lakewood.org
  • Proof of possession of premise (Deed or current signed lease)
  • Evidence that the corporation is in good standing under the statutes the Secretary of State documents
  • Insurance policy
  • $10,000 Bond
  • Each stockholder owning 10% (or more) of issued stock MUST complete an Individual Background Investigation Packet
  • Submit application, documents, and fees to the City Clerk's Office

    • Nonrefundable application fee $500
    • Annual license fee $2,500

    Total fees due is $3,000 made payable to the "City of Lakewood" by check or money order.
