Bear Creek Lake Park’s swim beach at Big Soda Lake is proud to be one of the most popular spots for Lakewood residents and visitors from throughout metro Denver to enjoy the summer season. Bear Creek Lake Park,15600 W. Morrison Road, is once again expecting record attendance for the Fourth of July holiday weekend after hosting over 5,000 people during the holiday in 2024.
Watch this video for important tips to enjoy the holiday at the park.
- Plan to arrive early.
- Have your $15 entry fee ready or an annual pass visible on your windshield.
- Plan to have all the supplies you need for the day, as reentry is not guaranteed once capacity is reached.
- There is no lifeguard on duty.
- Pool-type play toys are allowed within wading depth of the lake shoreline.
- Personal charcoal grills, glass containers and any alcohol other than fermented malt beverages (beer, seltzer) are prohibited.
- Each person aboard any watercraft including paddleboards must have a properly fitting life jacket on board, and any children under the age of 13 must wear a life jacket at all times.
- Stay safe and enjoy!
The park gates open at 6 a.m. during the summer, and the park reaches capacity as early as 11 a.m. every Fourth of July holiday. Typical wait times to enter the park are approximately 10 minutes or more on a weekend day. If the park reaches capacity, the entrance will be closed, potentially for the remainder of the day. Parking is not allowed on Morrison Road outside the park, and violators will be subject to citation by police patrols.
Visitors are welcome to swim from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the swim beach daily through Labor Day. Other watersport options in the park include water ski and waterboard lessons and rentals of paddleboats, paddleboards, canoes and kayaks from Rocky Mountain Paddleboard.
