Enhanced Parking Enforcement

Because of parking-related complaints, Lakewood has launched an enhanced parking enforcement program and the residential parking permit program. These new programs resulted from an extensive parking study the city conducted and City Council’s directive to develop the programs.

  • The enhanced parking enforcement starts July 2025. The enforcement will be focused on commonly complained about issues such as parking too close to stop signs and driveways; blocking fire hydrants; parking in bike lanes; and other parking violations.
  • The enforcement will be conducted throughout the city through a contract with Interstate Parking. The company has marked vehicles that will be on patrol to issue violations.
  • Parking tickets will be processed through Lakewood Municipal Court.
  • The citywide enhanced parking enforcement also includes the launch of the first residential parking permit program, which is on a selected number of streets in the Applewood Valley neighborhood.  In this area, only residents with permits and their visitors, who also must be permitted, are allowed to park on the selected areas of those streets.
