Traffic Signal Replacements

June/July Update

Union Blvd. and W. Mississippi Ave. Traffic Signal Replacement

  • Signal replacement, ADA curb ramp, and sidewalk elements have begun.
  • As of June 2, current work elements include construction of new storm sewer inlet, fire hydrant relocation, and sidewalk are currently underway.
  • Signal replacement and ADA curb ramp construction is anticipated to begin mid-June with completion of the project in mid-July.

Alameda Parkway and S. Urban St. Traffic Signal Replacement

  • Preliminary construction has begun including concrete demolition on the south side of Alameda.
  • Project elements include traffic signal replacement and construction of new ADA curb ramps.
  • Signal and ramp construction is anticipated to begin the end of June and last through mid-August.
  • Temporary lane closures and pedestrian detours are anticipated during construction. No roadway closures are expected as part of this project.

Alameda Parkway and W. Utah Ave. Pedestrian Crossing and Sidewalk

  • Project elements include a new pedestrian crossing and sidewalk near W. Utah Ave. Pedestrian crossing will include a raised median island in the middle of Alameda to serve as a pedestrian refuge, as well as a High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) signal similar to the two signals on Union Blvd north of W. 2nd Pl., and at Sere Lane. A new sidewalk will be constructed on the north side of Alameda to connect the Utah Trailhead to the Green Mountain Trailhead.
  • Construction is expected to begin mid-June and last through August.
  • Periodic lanes closures are anticipated to construct median and roadside improvements, although no road closures are expected.

Simms St. and W. 8th Ave. Signal Replacement

  • Project elements include traffic signal replacement and construction of new ADA curb ramps.
  • Contractor has been selected and has begun utility confirmation to begin signal replacement.
  • Construction will be staggered throughout the summer as backordered signal equipment becomes available.
  • Periodic lanes closures are anticipated although no road closures are expected.
