Youth Police Academy & Discover the Blue

The Youth Police Academy is a fun, fascinating opportunity for teens ages 14-18 to get an introduction to police skills, engage in team building, and build relationships with their School Resource Officers.

Discover the Blue is a free event hosted by the Lakewood PD SROs that takes place 2-3 times per year, and is open to all high-school aged students attending a Lakewood school. Past activities have included hikes, bowling, and snow tubing/sledding.

The Fall 2025 Discover the Blue Event will be held on Friday, October 10th, and is open to high school students currently attending school in Lakewood. Only 16 spaces are available for this event, so apply soon!
