Enterprise Zones
Enterprise Zones
The Colorado Enterprise Zone (EZ) Program is designed to stimulate economic development in economically distressed areas by offering state income tax incentives to businesses and property owners who invest and create jobs within these zones. Lakewood falls within the Jefferson County Enterprise Zone, providing eligible businesses and, in certain cases, property owners the opportunity to claim annual state income tax credits for activities such as capital investments, hiring employees, research and development expenditures and more.
To claim your EZ tax credits, follow these steps:
- Verify Your Location: Confirm that your address is located within an Enterprise Zone using the interactive enterprise zone map.
- Pre-Certify Your Business: Before making investments or hiring new employees, pre-certify your business with the Enterprise Zone Program to establish eligibility for the tax credits.
- Claim Your Tax Credits: After pre-certification and completing the qualifying activities, claim your state income tax credits when filing your taxes.
For detailed information on the program and additional resources, visit the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade's Enterprise Zone Program page.
