The Lakewood Aquatics team is looking for team members who are committed to the safety and support of our community. Requirements include CPR certification and group experience or other aqua fitness certification.

Lifeguard Training Course
Applying lifeguards must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificate, possess current American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent and possess a current American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate or equivalent. If you do not have these certifications, you will need to take an accredited lifeguard training course. Reimbursement for the class cost is available for lifeguards who work a full season with the City of Lakewood.

Skill Requirements
Participants must be able to complete the following skills on the first day of class:
• Swim 300 yards without stopping using front crawl, breaststroke or combination of both.
• Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only
• Swim 20 yards to retrieve a 10-pound brick at a depth of 7–12 feet and return to the starting point without assistance or goggles within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
The Lifeguard Training Course is a blended learning course. Participants will be notified and emailed a link to coursework that MUST be completed online BEFORE in-person classes begin.
The City of Lakewood will post Lifeguard positions as they become available.
