Retail Food Businesses
Starting Jan. 1, 2024, retail food establishments, including restaurants, must not distribute expanded polystyrene products for use as a container for ready-to-eat-food.
This ban covers containers including hinged food containers, plates, bowls, cups, and trays. Retail food establishments that purchase expanded polystyrene products before Jan.1, 2024, may continue to use the products until their supply is depleted.
Restaurants are not subject to the bag fee.
