Then the Lakewood volunteer Dog Ambassador program might be for you - this is a unique opportunity to get out and volunteer with your furry companion, focused on modeling appropriate dog/guardian behavior, educating visitors, and sharing canine-related safety and land stewardship considerations.

Purpose
This volunteer position’s primary purpose is to help educate park and trail users how to responsibly walk or hike with their dog. This position may also provide a presence at a Lakewood dog park to ensure proper waste disposal and educate/model appropriate dog/guardian behavior.
Responsibilities
Dog Park Ambassadors are responsible to complete a minimum 10 hours per year volunteering at Lakewood Parks and at least 20 hours per year to obtain an annual park pass.
Schedule
You set your own schedule and park locations.
Qualifications
The volunteer must be able to prove the following ability to:
- Complete all training.
- Work weekends and evenings.
- Wear provided uniform.
- Be physically capable to perform duties as required.
- Enter all volunteer hours in the City’s Volgistics and reporting systems.
Age Requirement
None. Volunteers under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult while performing volunteer service.
Training
An approximately 1-hour basic park orientation will be required. Additional educational enrichment and job shadowing is available.
Work Environment
This is an outdoors position.
