Pop culture royalty at Lakewood’s Rockin’ Block Party

“As you wish,” Lakewood offers the perfect kickoff to summer with a free concert and outdoor movie at the Rockin’ Block Party. This year’s entertainment offers an inconceivable evening of pop culture royalty with a performance by Prince Tribute Band, Paizley Park and a screening of the cult -classic, “The Princess Bride” all in an idyllic, outdoor setting.
Each year, this free summer event is hosted at the outdoor amphitheater at Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park, showcasing an evening of live music followed by an outdoor screening of a cinematic favorite. This year is no exception.
The Event: Gates open at 5 p.m.
It’s free – no tickets needed! Arrive early to secure your favorite spot and enjoy the opening act.
The Band: On stage at 6:30 p.m.
With intricate choreography, multiple costume changes and spot-on musical delivery to represent the bestselling superstar they revere, Paizley Park performs a tribute to Prince that is a must-see act.
The Movie: Starts at dusk or 9 p.m.
The cult classic movie, “The Princess Bride,” a tale of a farm boy turned pirate and his quest to reunite with his true love, captures hearts and delivers laugh-out-loud moments for audiences.
The Ambience:
Rockin’ Block Party features a Beer Garden presented by Foothills Credit Union, food trucks, kids’ activities and a chance to tour the historic buildings on site between 5-8 p.m. Audiences of all ages (and their well-behaved pups) are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or low lawn chairs to enjoy the night.
