Lakewood Hosts Active Adult Resource Fair in May
Published on April 09, 2025
Lakewood invites residents to celebrate Older Americans Month by attending the Active Adult Resource Fair (formerly the Older Adult Wellness Fair), a community event hosted at the Charles Whitlock Recreation Center on May 9 at 8:30 a.m. This event, aligned with the Administration for Community Living’s (ACL) national observance, highlights Lakewood's commitment to supporting its senior population.
Older Americans Month plans to "Flip the Script on Aging." The 2025 theme calls for a fundamental shift in how we understand aging. It's an invitation to remove stereotypes and replace outdated notions with a more accurate and positive view.
In support of this focus, the City of Lakewood will host an Active Adult Resource Fair featuring resources for adults aged 55+, caregivers, and family members. The event will include:
- Activities and demo classes
- Balance tests by personal trainers
- Cane and walker safety assessment
- Giveaways and special discounts!
“May is Older Americans Month, and here in Lakewood we take pride in the multitude of resources and wellness opportunities available for active adults,” said Traci Wieland, director of the Community Resources Department. “We hope you will join us to learn more at the Active Adult Resource Fair.”
The event is free and open to the public. Registration for this event is encouraged but not required. Interested participants can learn more at Lakewood.org/ResourceFair or by calling 303-987-4800.
