Jefferson County Head Start Expanding in Lakewood and Golden

(JEFFERSON COUNTY, COLORADO) – Jefferson County Head Start will expand its early childhood services in Lakewood and Golden starting this fall after receiving a federal grant from the Office of Head Start, the organization has announced.

Four new locations will begin serving the communities in Lakewood and Golden starting Oct. 1, 2025, allowing Jefferson County Head Start to care for 64 more preschoolers and 16 more toddlers and their families.

These new locations will operate on a four-day school week, with classes Tuesday through Friday for 7.5 hours each day.

  • 11th Ave. Head Start
    • Location: 6201 W. 11th Ave., Lakewood, CO 80214
    • Serving toddlers and preschoolers
  • Patterson Early Head Start and Pre-K
    • Location: 1470 and 1480 South Yarrow Street, Lakewood, CO 80232
    • Serving toddlers and preschoolers
  • Patterson Pre-K
    • Location: 7735 W. Florida Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232
    • Serving preschoolers
  • Daniels Head Start
    • Location: 1301 Union Street, Golden, CO 80401
    • Serving preschoolers

Jefferson County Head Start has been providing comprehensive, no-cost preschool and infant/toddler care since 1997. The program serves children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in Jefferson County, caring for 248 preschoolers and 48 infants and toddlers.
