Trans-Atlantic polkas, reels and love songs in Lakewood

skye consort with emma bjorling

Skye Consort with Emma Björling will enthrall audiences with original compositions, reels, love songs and polkas at the Lakewood Cultural Center at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2! Purchase your tickets now to experience this extraordinary performance in the heart of Lakewood.

Fiddle, nyckelharpa, cello, and banjo all join the fray as Skye Consort and Emma Björling unleash a free-for-all of music. They take on everything from whirling polkas and groovy reels to passionate love songs and breathtaking hymns. The group's renowned musicians breathe new life into enchanting stories and melodies, weaving original tunes and ingenious arrangements of Nordic-Celtic-Québecois music into worldly chamber-folk settings. The result is a beautiful sound tapestry where vocals and instrumental textures intertwine, representing the rich musical traditions of Scandinavia, Ireland, the British Isles, and French Canada.

David Noel Edwards of The Berkshire Edge raved that Skye Consort and Emma Björling’s performance “shone with polish, flashed with virtuosity, and bubbled with joy.”
