The Department of Community Resources is responsible for providing recreation and leisure activities in Lakewood to people of all ages. Our goal is to provide exceptional facilities and programs that make Lakewood, Colorado an outstanding place to live.

Community Resources has seven divisions that work together to provide the citizens with the following:

  • 103 parks with miles of multi-use trails
  • Four recreation centers and a community center
  • Two golf courses
  • Indoor and outdoor performing arts venues
  • A museum and visual art galleries
  • Early childhood services, including Head Start

Imagine Lakewood!, the department’s 2017 master plan, provides goals and actions that help guide the development of the city's parks, recreation and arts for the next five years. Priorities were identified based on community feedback.

Volunteer

Volunteering for Lakewood is a great way to get involved, make an impact and meet fellow residents.

Volunteer when and where you can in the area(s) that you're most passionate about. Positions are broad in needs; some have weekday, evening and/or weekend availability. Volunteer positions within city parks are filled in the spring — applications are available during that time.
