INSPIRE Arts Week

INSPIRE Arts Week is a week-long annual arts and culture event that takes place throughout Lakewood.

Lakewood will host INSPIRE Arts Week, May 27 – June 3 , to celebrate the vast variety of art offered throughout the city. During the 2023 events, more than 20 Lakewood galleries, cultural centers, shops and other art venues will host free and low-cost arts and culture experiences for the community.

INSPIRE will kick off at the Lakewood Cultural Center with exhibitions including:

• “A Space to ‘Be’” -featuring atmospheric and serene paintings

• “The Passions Project” -celebrating the beauty of aging

• “Creative Culture” -exploring the talents of Lakewood volunteers and staff

• “Recalibrated Reflections” -showcasing muralists painting within the gallery space

The Lakewood arts facilities including Lakewood Cultural Center, Washington Heights Arts Center and Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park will host several free community arts engagement activities throughout Inspire Arts Week.

“Creativity, art and living fully are qualities that transcend age. The Passions Project is a special exhibition to share with the Lakewood community because it beautifully captures the vibrancy and value of a life fully lived,” said Lakewood Cultural Center Arts Program Curator, Laine Godsey. “Aging adults are making significant impacts everyday within their communities and that deserves to be celebrated. In fact, some of our special Heritage, Culture and the Arts volunteers are depicted in the images displayed in the exhibition. Seeing new and familiar faces through the Passions Project photography is an excellent way for the thousands of children and adults who visit the Lakewood Cultural Center to witness the tremendous vitality of older adults and the importance of intergenerational connections.”

Don’t miss an opportunity to connect with a myriad of local artists, galleries, makers and creative spaces at the First Friday Art Walk at 40W Arts on June 2. Experience the vibrancy of the The Art Block at Belmar and participate in creative activities at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD), and Belmar Library, or take a walk along Alameda to experience the exceptional public art supported by Alameda Connects.

The week culminates with the Rockin’ Block Party at Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park on June 3. There is no better time than a Colorado summer to get out and celebrate the creative organizations and events that make up the City of Lakewood’s INSPIRE Arts Week.
