Wadsworth and Morrison Road
Project Description
The S. Wadsworth Blvd. and Morrison Rd. Intersection Improvements Project is currently under construction with the primary goal of adding acceleration and deceleration lanes into and out of Peak View Park, replace the traffic signal, and add a new sidewalk on the east of S. Wadsworth Blvd. from W. Woodard Dr. to W. Vassar Ave.
December 2025 Update
Recently Completed Work
Recently completed elements include paving on Morrison Rd., west of S. Wadsworth Blvd., soundwall installation on the west side of S. Wadsworth Blvd. across from W. Vassar Ave., streetlight installation, tree plantings, medians, and the final section of sidewalk connecting Peak View Park to W. Warren Ave. on the east side of S. Wadsworth Blvd.
Current Work
Current construction activities include paving in the median area on S. Wadsworth Blvd., north and south of Morrison Rd. This work is anticipated to be completed by Friday, December 12. Additional work elements include landscaping, installation of guardrail in front of the new soundwall, and general site cleanup.
Upcoming Work
Starting in early January, the contractor will begin the final striping on S. Wadsworth Blvd. and Morrison Rd. to shift traffic into the final alignment. Additional landscaping and site restoration activities are expected to continue through the end of the year. Construction activity will pause through the winter and is expected to resume in the April. Remaining work to be completed in the spring includes the final paving of the top layer of asphalt on both Morrison Rd. and S. Wadsworth Blvd. Due to the current cold temperature, temporary asphalt will be placed to fully open the roadway though the winter.
Traffic Impacts
Current traffic control for the median paving requires northbound and southbound lanes to be shifted outward to the new pavement to allow for the work zone in the middle. Drivers can expect to see these lanes shifts through Dec. 19. During the final striping, single lanes closures of both northbound and southbound S. Wadsworth Blvd. are expected through the end of December.
Target Project Completion
Major construction activities on the roadway are expected to be completed by Dec. 31. Final site restorations and landscaping will then occur for the next several weeks. Significant lane closures should be completed by this time, but periodic lane closures may occur to allow the contractor to access elements along the roadway. Final paving operations will resume in the spring 2026 and are expected to last two weeks.
