In 1981, the city took ownership of the Lutheran Church including the main building and adjacent parkland, named after a president of the American Lutheran Church.
The city developed an all-inclusive park, which includes a playground designed for accessible play, a shelter, open grass areas for informal play and a walking path around its perimeter.
