Police ask for assistance in locating Sexually Violent Predator

The Lakewood Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man classified as a Sexually Violent Predator, or SVP.
Due to his SVP status, Gregory Alan Buerge (10-01-62) is required by law to register quarterly with the local police department in the jurisdiction he plans to reside in. Buerge was most recently released from the Department of Corrections in March of this year. It appears as though Buerge had lived at more than one address since then and had complied with the registration requirement. On August 20th of this year, Buerge indicated that he would be residing in Lakewood at 5637 W. Colfax Ave. #2B. Buerge was not on parole at that time.
As standard operating procedure, Lakewood police agents frequently check on sex offenders including SVPs to confirm they are in fact living at the address they are registered to.
On November 1st, a random check of Buerge’s address found that he had left without notifying authorities. He has not been seen or accounted for since and it is believed that Buerge was at the W. Colfax address until late October. Buerge was originally convicted of “attempted sexual assault on a child.” Yesterday Lakewood detectives obtained a warrant for Buerge’s arrest.
The Lakewood Police Department is asking anyone who sees, has information about, or may know the whereabouts of Buerge to call their local police or the Lakewood police at 303-987-7111. Buerge is considered to be dangerous and the public should not attempt to contact him.
More information about Buerge is available on the Lakewood Police web site at http://www.lakewood.org/Police/Investigations/Sex_Offender_Information/Sexually_Violent_Predators_Released_in_Lakewood.aspx
