Lakewood Police Asking for Assistance in Locating Sexually Violent Predator

The Lakewood Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man classified as a Sexually Violent Predator, or SVP.
Nick R. Medina (04-13-1975) was released from the Colorado Department of Corrections in mid-June. Due to his SVP status, Medina was required by law to register with the Lakewood Police Department giving a permanent address where he would be residing. On approximately June 13th Medina indicated that he would be residing at 5601 W. Colfax Ave. #7. In addition, Medina is required by law to re-register every quarter with the local police.
As standard operating procedure, Lakewood police agents frequently check on sex offenders including SVPs to confirm they are in fact living at the address they are registered to.
Earlier this month a random check of Medina’s address found that he had left without notifying authorities. He has not been seen or accounted for since. Medina’s original crime and conviction was for that of “sexual assault on a child.” Additionally he is known to have been actively involved in local gang activity. Currently there are two warrants for Medina’s arrest.
The Lakewood Police Department is asking anyone who sees, has information about, or may know the whereabouts of Medina to call their local police or the Lakewood police at 303-987-7111. Medina is considered to be dangerous and the public should not attempt to contact him.
More information about Medina is available on the Lakewood Police web site at http://www.lakewood.org/Police/Investigations/Sex_Offender_Information/Sexually_Violent_Predators_Released_in_Lakewood.aspx
