Lakewood Police to Conduct DUI Checkpoint

May 17, 2013

On Friday May 24, 2013, the Lakewood Police Department, with the assistance of The Colorado Department of Transportation, the Colorado State Patrol and The Lakewood Volunteer Program, will be conducting a DUI checkpoint in the City of Lakewood. The checkpoint is a part of a statewide The Heat Is On high-visibility impaired driving campaign.

The approximate location of the checkpoint is on Wadsworth Blvd. near W 10th Ave. Statistics indicate that a number of DUI arrests in Lakewood occur in the general vicinity of this location. There have also been serious traffic accidents that were alcohol related in this general area.

The checkpoint will take place in the late night hours when a high percentage of all DUI arrests take place.

The Lakewood Police Department is committed to reducing the number of drunk drivers and alcohol related accidents in the City of Lakewood.

“We want people to drive responsibly. We are committed to serving the public and to making our roadways safer,” said Chief Kevin Paletta.
