May 8, 2018 – Big Boom Bash by Lakewood, a new Fourth of July celebration hosted by the City of Lakewood, will take place on Wednesday, July 4, rain or shine, at Jeffco Stadium, 500 Kipling St. Admission is free for this event, which kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and culminates with a spectacular 20-minute fireworks display at dark, beginning at approximately 9:15 p.m.
The event includes children’s activities, a community art project, vendor booths and local food trucks. The Lakewood Beer Garden presented by Foothills Credit Union will feature beer from Lakewood breweries and hard cider for purchase.
MIX 100 radio station will be on-site with prizes and fun, playing contemporary hits and patriotic songs throughout the evening. The fireworks display will be choreographed to music simulcast by MIX 100, and spectators outside of the stadium are encouraged to tune in to 100.3 FM to enjoy.
“To the delight of the whole community City Council has funded the Big Boom Bash by Lakewood,” said Mayor Adam Paul. “It will be a fantastic opportunity to gather together and celebrate with neighbors. Community events like this help make Lakewood a great place to live!”
The fireworks show will feature thousands of hand-selected shells to create a dazzling display for Lakewood, including color-changing strobes and brocades, sun rings, blue jellyfish, butterflies, falling leaves and other effects. The show will incorporate three different launch sites to produce a dynamic array, with fireworks reaching heights of 800 feet.
Primary parking areas are at Jeffco Stadium and Trailblazer Stadium. The stadium gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Upon entry, all guests are subject to a bag search and security check to ensure restricted items are not brought into this family-friendly event. Guests are welcome to bring small bags, small soft-sided coolers, picnics and unopened non-alcoholic beverages. Guests can help make Big Boom Bash a zero-waste event by packing food and drinks in reusable non-glass containers and using products that can be composted or recycled.
