Lakewood residents invited to Big Boom Bash on July 4
Published on May 14, 2019
Big Boom Bash by Lakewood, a Fourth of July celebration hosted by the City of Lakewood, will take place on Thursday, July 4, rain or shine, at Jeffco Stadium, 500 Kipling St. Admission is free for this event, which kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and culminates with a spectacular 20-minute fireworks display at dark, beginning at approximately 9:15 p.m. This is a smoke-free event, which includes all Jeffco Stadium grounds and parking lots.
The event includes children’s activities and local food trucks. The Beer Garden presented by Foothills Credit Union will feature beer from Lakewood breweries. MIX 100 radio station will be on-site with prizes, playing contemporary hits and patriotic songs throughout the evening. The fireworks display will be choreographed to music simulcast by MIX 100, and spectators outside of the stadium are encouraged to tune in to 100.3 FM to enjoy.
“The fireworks show was among the best I have ever seen,” said a Lakewood resident who attended last year, “Having MIX 100 play music while watching the show made it incredible!”
The fireworks show will feature thousands of hand-selected shells to create a dazzling display for Lakewood, including color-changing strobes and brocades, sun rings, blue jellyfish, butterflies, falling leaves and other effects. The show will incorporate three different launch sites to produce a dynamic array, with fireworks reaching heights of 800 feet.
Primary parking areas are at Jeffco Stadium, Trailblazer Stadium and Creighton Middle School. Please note that you will be able to enter these parking lots from either direction of Kipling Street. The Dennison Elementary parking lot, located at 401 Independence St., will serve as the main rideshare drop-off and pickup area.
Jeffco stadium gates will open at 5:30 p.m. All guests are subject to a bag search and security checks at entrance gates to ensure restricted items are not brought into this family-friendly event. Guests are welcome to bring small bags, small soft-sided coolers, picnics, factory-sealed non-alcoholic beverages and empty reusable water bottles. Guests can help make Big Boom Bash a zero waste event by packing food and drinks in reusable non-glass containers, using products that can be composted or recycled, and by taking advantage of our water bottle refill stations inside the event.
This year’s event will have more exit options to reduce congestion upon leaving Jeffco Stadium. For more parking, entry and exit details and a list of items allowed or prohibited from the venue, visit BigBoomBash.com or call the Big Boom Bash hotline at 303-987-7899.
