2nd Victim Dies After Two Vehicle Traffic Crash in Lakewood

On May 19, 2019 at approximately 2:00 am, Agents with the Lakewood Police Department responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of S. Kipling St. and W. Alameda Ave. A vehicle traveling eastbound on W. Alameda Ave. ran the red light at S. Kipling St. A vehicle traveling southbound on S. Kipling St. entered the intersection on a green light and was struck by the vehicle traveling eastbound.
Both passengers in the vehicle that was struck southbound were killed in the crash. The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Jesse Edmonds and 26-year-old Jacob Bowen. Both victims are from Kansas. The driver and the occupants of the vehicle that ran the red light were all transported to area hospitals.
No charges have been filed at this time as all involved parties are still being treated at hospitals and the investigation is ongoing. It is not known at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in this crash.
