Calling all artists! We are looking for local artists to create the design for the city’s 2023 Earth Day Celebration. The winning design will be used on posters, t-shirts, fliers and other promotional items. The winning artist receives $200. This year’s poster art theme is “Picture our Sustainable Future”.

Our annual free festival at Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park was a big success in 2022 with more in-person activities and expanded hours, more music, food trucks, art, exhibits, and activities to help residents find ways to reduce their ecological footprints

Schedule of Events

Special activities happened throughout the day-- here are a few highlights from the 2022 event! 

 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.
  • Exhibitor and Vendor booths
  • Electric Transportation Hub with electric car demonstrations and e-bikes to test drive
  • Food trucks
  • Beer garden
  • Art station to make crafts
  • Bee hive tours
  • Strolling entertainers
  • Bike Valet available (avoid the drive and finding parking - ride your bike instead!)

ATOMGA (musical performance at the Gazebo)

Zumba (near the Visitor Center)

Parade of Species

For the first time ever in 2022, people could join an Earth Day "Parade of Species."  Kids, adults, and pets were invited to bring or wear their favorite animal costume (or make an animal mask at the event), decorate their wagons and strollers, bring or make a drum or other instrument and march through our event in celebration of all of the animal species with whom we share the earth.

Electronics Recycling

In 2022, we included the Rooney Road Recycling Center Foundation Earth Day E-Waste Recycling Event 

This event was a fundraiser for the Rooney Road Recycling Center.

Earth Day Art

Thank you to all of the artists who submitted designs for our 2022 Earth Day Celebration Poster Art Contest- as always, we were blown away by everyone's creativity and talent! Our winning artist for 2022 was Steph LeBlanc.  Steph tells us "I am a fulltime graphic designer and a new Lakewood resident! I am excited to be a part of this community and help encourage others to be kind to our planet and celebrate the beauty of our Earth! There are so many ways we can help, and I am glad I can use art to raise awareness and promote such a wonderful event!"
