COVID-19 Lakewood Business Relief and Recovery Grant Program
The City of Lakewood’s Economic Development Team provided much-needed financial assistance to hundreds of Lakewood businesses affected by COVID-19 through the facilitation and distribution of local business grants in 2020.
A total of $3.3M of funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provided a boost to the local economy. Three rounds of grants were awarded to 377 of Lakewood’s businesses between April and December.
Grants in the first two rounds were awarded to local businesses with 25 or fewer employees ($2.82M). Round 3 supported Lakewood’s medium-sized businesses, those having between 25 and 100 employees ($464K). We also ensured that grant materials and applications were available both in English and Spanish. Grants were awarded to a wide variety of Lakewood businesses including restaurants, retail, healthcare, hospitality/hotels, and service providers.
