Family Services Summer Day Camps

Galaxy, E.C.O. and Odyssey Camps are now full.

Lakewood Family Services offers interactive, fun and educational full-day summer camps for kids. Camper days will be filled with engaging arts and crafts projects, field trips and outdoor activities at the city's facilities and parks. Parents can choose from a 4 or 5 day weekly option (Note: Camp Junior Explorers is 5 days per week only). As the summer session approaches, parents of registered children will receive an email to select the days and weeks for their child to attend. 

2021 Dates: Camps E.C.O., Odyssey and Galaxy: June 7-August 6. Camp Junior Explorers: June 1-July 30.
2021 Cost: $175/child per week, plus a $50/child registration fee.

Camp Descriptions

Junior Explorers 

For children ages 3yrs 8mth—5yrs 8mth by June 1.

Junior Explorers is a camp designed with the little ones in mind. There will be plenty of opportunities for fun arts and crafts projects, cooking, science and messy play; the onsite Patterson Outdoor Classroom will provide play and learning experiences with nature.  Field trips will be scheduled as health protocols allow.

Camp Galaxy

For children ages 5-6

A day camp which will provide plenty of exciting and fun arts and crafts projects all summer long. There will be swimming at Lakewood Recreation Centers and many other sports related programs. Opportunities to visit the Heritage Cultural and Arts Center and participate in Lakewood community events will also be included. Field trips will be determined during the summer.

Camp Odyssey

For children ages 7-10

Camp Odyssey is an interactive, fun and educational camp. Children will get to experience arts and crafts, community projects and recreational activities. Field trips will be determined during the summer.

Camp E.C.O. 

For youth ages 9-12

Camp E.C.O. will provide a safe, fun environment where kids can participate in many outdoor experiences. There will be opportunities to participate in fun activities at the City of Lakewood Recreation Centers such as swimming, organized sports leagues/games and using the climbing wall. Field trips will be determined during the summer.


Galaxy, E.C.O. and Odyssey

There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee per child due at the time of registration. Follow the instructions below.

Camp Paha and Paha Adults in Transition (PAT)

Lakewood Therapeutic Recreation offers two summer day program options for individuals with disabilities: 
1. Camp Paha for youth ages 6 to 17.
2. Paha Adults in Transition (PAT) for young adults ages 18 to 25. 

Camp Paha and PAT are held for seven weeks, typically, mid-June through the end of July (with half-summer options available). Both programs run 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday. The staff to participant ratio is 1:4.

We believe cost should not be a barrier to accessing Lakewood summer camps. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify via the Lakewood Possibilities Fund.

How to apply for financial assistance:

3. Follow the instructions to turn it in either in-person, by email or by fax.
