First Annual Bear Freeze Fishing Derby

Youth holds up a fish on frozen lake.

Ice fishing can be a great winter activity for the entire family and it’s not that hard to get started. If you are a beginner or novice angler, we invite you to the first annual 'Bear Freeze Fishing Derby' at Bear Creek Lake Park. This derby is specifically for the novice and beginner angler looking to have fun and possibly win ice fishing gear like an ice auger or shelter to add to their ice fishing tool box.

The only way to fish this derby is to have an adult and youth (17 or younger) fishing team, that’s it! So invite your son, daughter, niece, nephew, brother, sister or neighborhood kids and bring them down to the lake for a fun afternoon of ice fishing.

Don’t worry if you do not have enough gear to fish with — we will have rods, reels, and tackle to lend you for the day. Ice fishing derby dependent on ice — not guaranteed. Registration is required: activity #159952.
