CanceledSounds Exciting! Wood Belly - CANCELED
Due to Public Health orders and consideration of the health and safety of our residents and employees, all community events are canceled for the summer. These include the Big Boom Bash on July 4, the Rockin' Block Party event and the Summer Concert series. We look forward to celebrating our Lakewood community next year.
Bluegrass has become a mainstay in Colorado. When a band like Wood Belly comes along to channel it, the sky is the limit. Led by a pair of prolific songwriters, their songs are carefully and collectively crafted to ring out with honesty and passion. A Wood Belly song has its own lyrical persona and masterful arrangement; rooted in bluegrass tradition and planted solidly in contemporary innovation. Whether you’re spinning your partner around or hanging on every word, the result is the same; you're left smiling and wanting more.
Winners of the Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition (2018), this Fort Collins-based band keeps a sharp focus on songwriting and their sound is warm, honest and always entertaining. The instrumentation and rhythmic drive of the band is like a tree trunk centered in bluegrass with branches that uninhibitedly reach out in many directions. Wood Belly, like other bands in the Newgrass or Grassicana realm, is rooted in tradition but refuses to be confined. Their sound is authentic, passionate and always entertaining.
Opener: The Wrecklunds
The Wrecklunds deliver that high and lonesome bluegrass sound, applying it across genres and generations. These guys sing and play with strong driving rhythms, endless energy, and a love of performing. Truly an outfit that entertains from start to finish. Formed in 2017, the Wrecklunds continue to gather steam, adding new fans after every show.
The Wrecklunds keep the Bluegrass tradition alive while rolling ahead towards the future - they're a Wreck of a good time!
