Light Painting Photography Workshop: Friday, April 21, 2023
In this hands-on workshop, participants will work with two members of The Seeing With Photography Collective to create photos using the Collective's distinctive light painting technique. The photos, which are created in the dark using a long exposure and small flashlights to illuminate the people being photographed, capture an entirely new way of seeing. Participants will work in small groups to conceive, stage and create their own light painting photographs. Participants are welcome to bring their own digital camera and tripod. Camera must be digital, have exposures that can be set manually, and have the ability to be set to a “bulb” setting. Cameras that have a cable release or any type of remote-control device or app that can open and close the shutter are preferred. This is an accessible workshop open to visually impaired, blind or sighted participants.
Participants are invited to bring some props & materials to use creating the photos, such as a large piece of fabric to use as a background (like a sheet with pattern), aluminum foil, or costume pieces (hats, glasses, jackets, masks, gloves), etc.
