City Council Members
See the Council's online dashboard of priorities, plans and potential projects. Lakewood has a Council/Manager form of government, as established in the City Charter(PDF, 212KB). Some sections referenced in the Charter are also governed by the City Council Policies and Procedures Manual(PDF, 428KB) that helps define how the Council operates.
Citizens elect a City Council consisting of the Mayor, who is elected at-large, and 10 City Council members, two from each of the city's five geographical wards. They set the policies for the operation of the City government.

The Council appoints the City Manager with administrative responsibility to carry out the Council's policies and the day-to-day operations of the City.
