National Trails Day Volunteer Project

Volunteers will perform trail construction and maintenance work in this beautiful open space park.

Date and Time

June 6, 2020 from 8 a.m.-noon

Dress Code

Please wear appropriate work clothes including long pants and gloves. Sunscreen is recommended along with extra water and snacks. Please be prepared for changing weather conditions.

Orientation

A trail crew orientation and welcome will be conducted 15 minutes prior to the start of the project.

Food and Beverage

Light breakfast will be provided, along with lunch for all volunteers. Extra water will be available at the parking area, but please be prepared to bring your own water to the work site. 

Job Description

Volunteers will be divided into crews of 10-15. A staff or volunteer crew leader will oversee each crew. The work will be strenuous involving building or maintaining multi-use trails. There will also be a 1-2 mile hike to the work site. This will also be a family-friendly event. We will have a park naturalist to conduct educational activities and a mini-event for our youngest volunteers. The event will be followed by a trail outreach event in partnership with Jefferson County Open Space.
