Event Description

Lakewood Lights featuring the Mayor’s Tree Lighting celebrates an old-fashioned holiday season and includes: An official lighting ceremony at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, free museum tours, free tractor pulled hay-wagon rides, free photos with Santa, hot cocoa and holiday cookies in the White Way Grill, retro ornament making in the Country School & unique gift shopping in the 20th Century Emporium.

Dress Code

Khaki pants, volunteer t-shirt, warm winter coat and comfortable shoes. If the volunteer does not have a volunteer t-shirt, one will be provided upon arrival. Volunteers are encouraged to wear holiday hats, jewelry and pins. 

Orientation

Orientation will be provided 15 minutes prior to your shift.

Food and Beverage

Coffee, water and snacks will be served from 4:30-8 p.m.

Shifts (both days)

4:45-8:45 p.m.

  • 4:30-5 p.m. – Food and Beverage and Orientation
  • 5:30-8:30 p.m. – Working at Position (One 10 minute break will be provided) 

Job Descriptions

  1. Breaks
    Volunteer will relieve other volunteers for 10 minute periods. (Outside, Inside, Stand & Sit)

  2. Building Host
    The volunteer will be responsible for greeting spectators upon arrival & provide a general synopsis of the buildings history. In addition, the volunteer should ensure spectators do not bring food and beverage into the building & ensure the artifacts are not handled. (Climate Controlled & Stand)

  3. Gallery Monitor
    Volunteer will be responsible to ensure spectators do not bring food and beverage into galleries. In addition, the volunteer will ensure the artifacts located in the galleries are not being handled. (Climate Controlled & Sit)

  4. Craft Leader
    The volunteer is responsible for giving instructions and assisting with the designated holiday craft. (Climate Controlled, Stand and Sit)

  5. Wagon Ride Monitor
    The volunteer will be responsible for greeting and assisting children and spectators onto the wagon. (Outside & Stand)

  6. Serving Hot Chocolate and Cookies
    Volunteer will assist with making and serving hot chocolate, and cookies. (Inside & Stand)
