Drone Regulations

 No person shall launch, land, or operate any unmanned aircraft system (UAS) from or on any City property, including parks, open space areas, public rights of way or any other public property except in areas designated by the Director as “Unmanned Aircraft Flying Areas.”

  • The Director may establish “Unmanned Aircraft Flying Areas” on any city owned property.
  • The launching, landing, or operating of UAS in an Unmanned Aircraft Flying Area shall be subject to the Director’s permitting process, except when such launching, landing, or operating of a UAS is by or for official government agencies.
  • Upon issuance of a permit from the Director, UAS operators must comply with state and federal laws, including Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations while launching, landing, or operating UAS in an Unmanned Aircraft Flying Area.
