The Lloyd G. Clements Community Center offers an attractive, healthy and enjoyable environment with activities and services for older adults age 55 or better.

Services include:

  • Social, mental and physical wellness activities.
  • The Lakewood Rides Transportation Service.
  • A Volunteers of America lunch program.
  • Referrals for various supportive services. 

In addition, if you are looking to host an event there is rental space available outside of regular business hours.

Events with Alcohol

Alcohol can be served at private rentals as long as the following criteria is met:

  • No one under the age of 21 is allowed to consume or serve alcohol.
  • Alcoholic beverages are restricted to wine, beer and champagne.
  • Alcohol sales are prohibited.
  • A mandatory $500 deposit is required.
  • Alcohol permit is required.
  • Alcohol permit fees are based on length of events.

Set Up/Take Down

Chairs and tables are included for free during rentals. Staff set up and take down is $75 per event. Otherwise, the renter is responsible for set up and take down.


Cleaning is the responsibility of the renter. Room must be cleaned and returned to the original way it was found upon arrival.

Confetti, glitter, rice or similar loose materials are not permitted inside or outside of the Clements Center.

Cancellation Policy

Refunds will not be issued for rentals ending earlier than stated on the reservation agreement.

Refund checks will be mailed to the individual who reserved the space within 20 business days following the scheduled reservation and/or when all conditions are met.

Clements Center Reachout Office 

The Clements Community Center Reachout Office provides information and referral to over 3,500 programs, including a “Benefits Check-up” for people ages 55 and older.

The city's Senior Support Specialist can assist you in finding and connecting with housing, transportation, statement reading, and legal programs; social service, handyman home repair, and various personal needs.

The Clements Community Center offer many opportunities to keep up with your health.

Take advantage of any or all of the opportunities below and feel free to contact us with any questions.

Blood Pressure Screenings

Monitor your health with monthly blood pressure screenings provided by a retired RN. No appointment needed.

Services are offered from 10-11:45 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. These blood pressure screenings are offered just before lunch at the Clements Community Center, so consider reserving a meal and staying to enjoy a hot, nutritious lunch.

Low-Vision Support Group

The Jefferson County Senior Low-Vision Program, funded by a state grant, offers free information, referral, education, training, support and advocacy to persons with macular degeneration nor other low-vision conditions to person who are blind. This group meets once monthly on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Support Group for Change, Loss and Grief

Have you experiences a major change that you feel saddened by? Would you like to talk about it? Feel free to drop in to participate in this ongoing free service.

Visiting Nurses Support Services

Treat yourself to important health screenings. Services available include blood pressure checks, toenail clipping, blood sugar checks, health history and examinations, health education, flu shots and referral as needed to other community and health care services. Services are offered once monthly on Thursdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Lakewood Rides offers door-through-door transportation for Lakewood residents 60 years of age or better and those with disabilities of any age. We provide transportation for grocery shopping, Volunteers of America dining sites, medical appointments and various personal needs. 

How to Utilize Lakewood Rides

Complete a Lakewood Rides intake form.

All individuals age 59 and younger must also complete a verification form.


Eat, have fun and make friends.

The City of Lakewood partners with Volunteers of America (VOA) to offer hot, nutritious meals for people age 60 and older, with wellness and social activities taking place before and during the meal. Meals are served in the dining room of the Clements Community Center.

Lunch Schedule

Meals are served Monday through Thursdays and the first Friday of each month at noon and should be reserved in advance.

Lunch Menu

For those age 60 and older, a $2.50 contribution is suggested, but do not let that stop you from participating in the lunch program. You can reserve a lunch at no charge.

The charge for those under age 60 is $8.50, which cannot be waived.  


You will need to register as a participant in the program. Please call 303-987-4833 to obtain registration information and to reserve a meal. Reservations need to be given two business days in advance before 11 a.m.

If you have missed the reservation deadline, please call on the day that you want to have lunch to see if there is room for that day.

Lunchtime Activities

Fitness and social activities happen before and during the meal. Activities may change monthly and include:

  • SilverSneakers® Yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays weekly.
  • SilverSneakers®  Classic on Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly.
  • Live music on most Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • Free blood pressure checks on the second and fourth Wednesday.
  • Bingo on the second and fourth Monday.
  • Free movies on the second and fourth Monday, occurring after the meal.
  • Presentations once a month by the Lakewood Police Department and Lakewood’s Family Services.

Transportation Assistance

Lakewood Rides is a transportation program which offers residents of Lakewood transportation to and from the dining site at no charge. Contributions are always welcome.

Free parking is also available at the Clements Community Center.
