Then apply to serve on the Lakewood Advisory Commission. Submit an application online by 5 p.m. Oct. 21 for the budget position and learn about specific qualifications at Lakewood.org/GetonBoard.

Budget and Audit Board
There is one opening for a three-year term beginning January 2023. This board serves as a financial oversight committee by reviewing the city’s financial statements and budget forecasts and providing feedback on budgetary compliance with city policies. Meetings typically occur once a month at 6 p.m. on Mondays. Preferred qualifications include a background in capital budgeting and strategic financial planning and a familiarity with financial statement audits.

Lakewood Advisory Commission
There are several openings for unexpired terms, and commission members research specific issues or topics of interest to Lakewood residents to make recommendations to City Council for potential action on those issues. Members should plan to attend at least one meeting a month. Applicants must attend both a full commission meeting and an individual committee meeting before submitting an application. Positions will be open until filled. Visit Lakewood.org/LAC for more information.

NEW OPENING: Historic Preservation Commission
There is one opening for four-year term starting April 1. Applicants must have a background in architecture, history, urban planning, building trades, real estate or related fields. The commission conducts public hearings on applications for landmark designation, reviews alteration certificates and applications for relocating historically designated structures and makes recommendations to the City Council. The commission must meet four times a year. Deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Oct. 21.
