Lakewood hosts new Possabilities Expo

January 23, 2024 – The City of Lakewood is offering a new opportunity to support community members of all abilities during a free event exploring a wide variety of vendors, resources and services at the Charles Whitlock Recreation Center on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In support of Therapeutic Recreation Month, the PossAbilities Expo will highlight over 40 vendors with services supporting people of all abilities, caregivers and family members. Topics include therapeutic recreation, adaptive sports, health care, funding sources, transportation and more!

 The event will include:

  • Presentations from Always Choose Adventures, Family Voices Colorado and Denver Regional Access and Mobility Council.
  • A free dance workshop with Feel the Beat dance studio.
  • Demonstrations from the Colorado Rolling Rapids, Simplified Pickleball, Wheelchair Rugby with the Denver Barbarians and more.Select organizations will give presentations on financial planning, navigating Medicaid and transportation management.

Registration is encouraged for community members who would like to receive email updates about the event, but it is not required. A sensory friendly time block will be offered at 10:30 a.m. For this time, attendees will be required to register prior to the event. Throughout the PossAbilities Expo, there will be a sensory break space and noise-reducing headphones available.
