Free and open to the public

May 10 – Lakewood’s Rockin’ Block Party is back for 2022 with a celebration of women of the past and present. Every year, this free summer kickoff brings together local talent in an evening of music followed by a cinematic favorite.

In a continuing effort to support and foster Colorado’s young artists, the evening will kick off with an hour of covers and originals by Julia Kirkwood and Bri Weesner. At just 16 years old, Kirkwood has been performing and composing for nearly 10 years, so this talented duo is not to be missed.

To continue the celebration, Colorado favorite, Hazel Miller will lend her powerful voice in a rockin’ tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. The comedic musical “Hairspray” will begin at 9 p.m.

Audiences of all ages (and their well-behaved pups!) are encouraged to make an evening of it; bring picnic blankets or low lawn chairs. Picnicking is encouraged, or guests can enjoy a variety of food truck fare and free popcorn from Foothills Credit Union.

Rockin’ Block Party is generously supported by Alameda Connects, Credit Union of Colorado, Gravina’s Window Center of Littleton, Foothills Credit Union, Mix 100, Muller Engineering Company, the SCFD and Tedford Commercial Real Estate.
