CALL FOR ENTRIES: ART ON THE COMMONS AND COLFAX SCULPTURE WALK

Be a part of the rotating art exhibitions in Lakewood. Art on the Commons is an annually rotating selection of sculptures hosted at Lakewood’s City Commons and other prominent locations, such as the Colfax Sculpture Walk. A total of nine sculptures will be selected from the applications submitted through the call for entries.
NAME OF VENUE: City of Lakewood – Art on the Commons and Colfax Sculpture Walk outdoor sculpture exhibits.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
- Artists may submit entries online at Lakewood.org/PublicArt under the Art on the Commons tab.
- Artists may enter up to three works for consideration for a $20 fee.
SPECIFICATIONS:
- Any sculpture style in a durable medium will be considered, but submitted artwork must be complete and ready for installation, structurally safe, and able to withstand Colorado’s weather.
- Sculpture must be a minimum of 40 inches in height, no taller than 120 inches, and should not exceed maximum base dimensions of 36 inches by 54 inches.
- Display pedestals are permanent and provided by the City of Lakewood. Each submission must be capable of being welded or securely fastened to a ¼-inch steel plate.
- The curator, prior to installation, must approve any base provided by the artist.

SELECTION:
- Six sculptures will be selected for the Art on the Commons display in Lakewood’s City Commons, an urban plaza located between the North and South Buildings at Lakewood’s Civic Center that includes the Lakewood Cultural Center.
- Three sculptures will be selected to be displayed at the Sculpture Walk located at West Colfax Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard.
AWARDS:
Artists whose sculptures are selected for this exhibit will receive a $1,000 honorarium and will be eligible for a People’s Choice Award of $500.
