Business grant program reopens for additional applications
Published on July 10, 2020
Small Lakewood businesses will soon receive more than $2.5M in funds from Lakewood’s COVID-19 Business Relief and Recovery Grant Program. Additional Lakewood businesses will also have another opportunity to receive funds when applications open again this week.
In Round 1 of this program many Lakewood businesses dramatically affected by the Covid-19 public health orders were awarded $3,000 to $30,000 grants. These grants are funded from a portion of the federal relief package known as the CARES Act that Lakewood has received.
Additional $3,000 grants are available for Lakewood businesses who did not receive a grant in Round 1. Eligible Lakewood businesses may apply for these Round 2 grants beginning July 10. Round 2 grant applications will be accepted online through the end of July at Lakewood.org/BizRecovery. Applications and additional information in Spanish and English are available on the website.
To qualify, businesses must employ 25 or fewer employees, be physically located in Lakewood and meet several other requirements including having a current Lakewood business license and registration with the state.
More than 280 businesses have been selected to receive grants from the initial application process in June. A list of those businesses is available at Lakewood.org/BizRecovery.
Funds remain available after the initial application process, allowing the grant program to be reopened. The additional application process will provide businesses that missed the initial application window or had incomplete applications to apply in July. All grants in Round 2 will be $3,000 grants awarded to eligible applicants. Odds of receiving a grant in Round 2 are dependent on the number of eligible applications submitted as applications may exceed the number of grants available.
