April 15, 2021- Lakewood youth sports will enjoy new uniforms and equipment this year thanks to the gracious contribution of $3,000 from the Alameda West Kiwanis to support Lakewood youth access to sports programs. In addition, the City of Lakewood offers the Lakewood Possibilities Fund, Lakewood.org/PossibilitiesFund, a program that provides scholarship dollars to low-income families in Lakewood.

This is not the first time the Kiwanis have supported Lakewood’s youth. Beginning in 2017, they partnered with Lakewood Parks to help fund a nature play area next to the visitor’s center at Bear Creek Lake Park. The Kiwanis have been an instrumental fundraising and volunteer partner to the city, donating over $35,000 in recent years.

“Providing youth sport programming to local children aligns perfectly with our mission to support youth,” said Club President Barbara Fuller.

The Alameda West Kiwanis meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:30 a.m. via Zoom. Contact Club Administrator Lee Katz at Leekatz70@gmail.com for more information.
