Nonprofits supporting Lakewood residents can now apply for the city’s annual charitable giving program administered in coordination with the Lakewood Legacy Foundation.
Each year, the city provides $100,000 in city funds in the form of grants to support a wide array of services and assistance needed throughout Lakewood. Known as the Lakewood Community Grant Program, it establishes the city’s process for reviewing and evaluating funding requests the city receives for these kinds of important charitable services.
Applications and detailed eligibility requirements are available at Lakewood.org/CommunityGrant. The deadline to apply is March 31. Lists of the recipients from previous years are also available on the website.
The grants must be used for services that support Lakewood residents, and events or conferences are not eligible to receive the funding. The Lakewood Legacy Foundation, a community trust working to help charitable programs in Lakewood that are unable to receive funding through traditional sources, assists with the selection process. Lakewood City Council provides the final approval of the grant recipients, and that will occur in May.
