Hot pickin' bluegrass

Nashville-based Hit & Run, fronted by Rebecca and John Frazier, formed in Boulder in 2001 with the desire to play “authentic yet modern” bluegrass.  Their appeal comes from their youthful energy combined with polished vocals, hot picking their contemporary sound. Tastefully interpreting traditional bluegrass tunes and skillfully crafting original songs, they were the first band to win both the Rockygrass Band Competition and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest.

Transformational Change

Follow the transformation of musical style from the 19th century Brahms Academic Festival Overture (1880) and the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto (1878) to the 20th century Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphosis (1943).  The Hindemith was based on themes by Carl Maria von Weber who lived in the late 18th and early 19th century.  Transformational musical changes occur throughout this program.  And violinist Sarah Switzer is not to be missed!
