Congratulations to the 2015 Sustainability Award Winners!

About the Awards

The City of Lakewood Sustainability Awards were established in 2008 to recognize leadership in sustainability. Residents, businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, individuals, and schools in the City of Lakewood are eligible to be nominated. Previous awards have gone to green buildings, community cleanups, alternative energy projects, and youth leadership initiatives. Nominations must meet the award criteria in at least one of the project achievement areas described in the Sustainability Awards Brochure. For a comprehensive year-by-year list of past winners, please refer to the column on the left hand side of this page.

Award Categories:

Community Sustainability Award:

This award is presented to individuals or groups for projects and initiatives that promote a more sustainable Lakewood community. Projects range from new construction or a remodel of existing buildings, ecological restoration, new transportation enhancements or community-based food initiatives.

Bruce Peoples Eco-Employee Award:

This award recognizes the efforts of City employees who embrace the spirit of sustainability by incorporating such practices into their daily activities. The award was renamed the Bruce Peoples Eco-Employee Award in 2011, honoring the memory of Bruce Peoples for his outstanding work, involvement, and dedication to sustainability during his 37 year career with the City.

Defender of the Planet Youth Award:
