From young children to
older adults, people of all ages will find opportunities to enjoy the outdoors
in Lakewood. Whether your interest is in finding the neighborhood playground, a
space to hold the company picnic, or retreating to nature, we have an
staff manage and care for the beautiful parks and open space in our city,
Just because the water is frozen doesn't mean fishing is over! Come to this one hour class starting at 8am to learn the essentials of ice fishing. After the class students will put their new skills to the test and ice fish in Bear Creek Lake Park! CPW will be here as well as some other great guest speakers!
If you have ice fished before but want a little more guidance from one of our guides then come out around 9am on this day to enjoy the fishing portion of the course! Fishing licenses are required.Limited space is available for the classroom portion.

The darkness of night provides a unique backdrop for a hiking adventure, so leave those flashlights at home hone your night vision as a park naturalist guides you along the trails of Bear Creek Lake Park and the surrounding green spaces. Keep in mind each one will average an hour and a half of walking and observing. We will meet at the visitor center unless otherwise noted. Don't forget to dress appropriately for Colorado's everchanging weather. No dogs please.
Cost: $2/person, park entrance fee is waived.

Seed Saving Basics
This program is designed specifically for older adults. Participants will learn about the wildlife and natural history of the park through hands on education, programs and hikes. All programs are at the Bear Creek Lake Park Visitor Center unless otherwise noted.
Ages: 55 and over
Cost: $5 per person (park entrance fee is waived)

Sights, Sounds and Colors of Winter
Join us for a program specially designed for children ages 3-5. Participants will explore their natural environment through stories, songs and interactive programs. Please meet at the Bear Creek Lake Park Visitor Center.
