From young children to
older adults, people of all ages will find opportunities to enjoy the outdoors
in Lakewood. Whether your interest is in finding the neighborhood playground, a
space to hold the company picnic, or retreating to nature, we have an
staff manage and care for the beautiful parks and open space in our city,
Wheat Ridge Recreation Center and Bear Creek Lake Park partner together for a live bat encounter! Learn about the benefits of bats, the need for conservation, and what we can do to help these unique mammals. There will be live bats from North America, Africa and Asia. Bring your camera! Registration is required: Call 303.231.1300 to sign up. Event is at Wheat Ridge Recreation Center.
Cost: $5/person, $7 the day of the program.
Leave those flashlights at home for this unique hiking adventure! You will be guided by a park naturalist along Bear Creek Lake Park's trails and surrounding green spaces. Wear comfortable hiking shoes, dress for weather conditions and bring water. These hikes are designed for the whole family, and each will average an hour and a half of walking on uneven terrain. Meet at the Bear Creek Lake Park Visitor Center.

Leave No Trace
Participants will learn about the wildlife and natural history of Bear Creek Lake Park through hands on education, programs and hikes. We will meet at the Bear Creek Lake Park Visitor Center.
Ages: 55 and over
Cost: $5 per person (park entrance fee is waived)
